COVID-19: Communication has never been more important.
Posted
COVID-19 has changed the way we communicate - as we all move to online interactions rather than the traditional face-to-face.
Covid-19 has rapidly changed the way we live our lives, though at the same time there has been drastic changes to the business landscape- as we all move to online interactions rather than the traditional face-to-face.
Despite these challenges we currently face, Australians are very resilient, and we will come out of Covid-19 a stronger country. We as business owners will adjust to the “Covid-19 new normal” like we did to GFC.
Using communication for good
It is hard to escape from the fear that is circulating around Covid-19. To understand the power of communications, you only need to look at how you feel after the nightly news broadcast. Communications is a very powerful tool in affecting your emotions and then your actions.
As a marketing communication specialists, it is our responsibility during this time to build confidence and hope through the marketing communications we deliver for our clients.
Organisations that communicate and add value via digital channels at the moment - can make a big difference to their customers, members and even community.
How the business landscape will change
During this difficult time, Australians will learn to become more digital savvy, they will make more purchases online, and they will find ways to enjoy their hobbies/sports using digital channels.
MAAA members who are unable to fly their aircraft out on the field at the moment have continued to enjoy their sport by sharing the models they are building or working on from home, on Facebook.
This continues to build the camaraderie amongst members, allows them to enjoy the sport from the confinements of their home and enjoy a different aspect of the sport.
Once Covid-19 has passed people will have permanently changed the way they purchase and enjoy their hobbies and sports – and organisations need to be prepared for this.
Here are some of our predictions:
- Australians will continue to shop online so invest in digital/ecommerce
- People will continue to undertake education online so invest in e-learning platforms
- Members will expect more value via online channels so invest in digital and social media
- Shoppers will continue to ‘book online’ with ‘quick drop-offs’ to service businesses
- Many staff (and businesses) will continue to work from home
How communications will change
It’s never been more important to communicate with your tribe and evolve the way you are communicating based on the current climate. What you communicate to your customers and members will need to be different.
Customers need that confidence from you and to know that you are still in business. Let them know if you have changed how you operate and look to deliver value via online channels to maintain loyalty and trust in your brand.
For example, we are currently working on digital communications for members of the Little Ship Club to help them stay connected and to continue to enjoy boating via online channels.
Now is also the time to start improving the value you deliver to your tribe online whether that be improvements to your website, updating marketing communications or new ways to add value.
Many of our clients are using this time wisely to innovate their digital marketing to build more resilient organisations. Others are using PR to elevate their brands and leap ahead of competitors.
At Sustainable Marketing we are here to help you communicate with your audiences and innovate your digital marketing in a way that is on brand but creates calm within your community.
We are all in this together and are here to assist to guide you through these challenging times.
With Health & Hope
